CF to SDCard adapter

Postby a2retro » Tue Aug 04, 2015 1:37 pm

Hi I have one of these CF to SDCard adapters. I am using a 128MB SDCard. The adapter works fine in both my V1.4 and 2.0 CFFA boards but will not work in the CFFA 3000. The status from the firmware menu floats between "Not Ready" and "Ready (Raw partitions).

Config is ROM 01 with 4MB ram card, TranswarpGS in slot 2, CBII in slot 3, Uthernet II in slot 4 and CFFA3000 in slot 7

Any suggestions?

a2retro,

Sorry for the very late reply. I have never tried a CF to SDcard adapter so can't really comment on compatibility.
But I would recommend you try and use a USB to SD card reader, because other customers are having luck with them.
I would probably be wise to avoid USB 3.0 based readers.

Let us know if you have any luck.

Thanks,

Hi Rich, thanks for the reply. I think i have one of those so I will give that a try. I was just surprised it worked on my older CFFA's.

One key difference between the older CFFAs and the CFFA3000 is the mode the CF card is operated in.
On the older boards, the TrueIDE mode is used and requires that the CF not be removed or inserted while power is on.
While on the CFFA3000 we are using a memory emulation mode which allows the CF to be hot plugged anytime.

I suspect this may be a key difference.

Thanks,
