Should I set up another Apple II archive?

Postby rich » Fri Sep 29, 2006 1:01 am

Hi all,

Seems like the existing Apple II FTP archives are coming and going and not always reliable. Should I set up another archive? If so, does anybody want to administer it for me? My server has lots of space. I am not sure about connection speed, it used to be excellent, but my ISP is making changes so right now it is a lot slower. Not sure what will happen next...

If any interest, follow up this post and let me know.

I've never had any trouble getting to Asimov, and it seems to be kind of authoritative. You might consider mirroring it, rather than coming up with Yet Another FTP Archive(tm). It seems to me that consolidation rather than fragmentation ought to be the goal.

A loud vote of "YES, PLEASE!" is being issued.

We need fast and reliable mirrors like crazy. We also need someone to burn them all to a DVD and then offer the DVD for sale for some nominal price, just in case.
