I am interested in knowing what kind of systems people might use my project in. Describe your system so I am some idea of the kinds of things I am going run into. For example:
What model?
Do you have an accelerator card?
How much memory?
Do you use special cards like networking cards?
Etc...

Used for RoboCAD and a label printer. The RoboCAD program uses a cutdown version of DOS 3.3. I realize that I would need to modify the drivers or make the II+ work with a 65C02 or both to use your card. Maybe I'll just move it to a IIe.

I have a IIgs motherboard mounted in a minitower AT case (it runs really cool and healthy with a 200W psu). It is a Rom03 with two MB, two 3,5", one HD 3,5" drive (no HD card) and one 51/4" drive, macintosh keyboard and monochromatic monitor.

Please keep in mind that the Lexar cards are not compatible with the CFFA card. I recommend that you use SanDisk. I am still trying to get to the bottom of the Lexar problem, but it is very strange....

In the early 80's I was involved in hardware development for the Apple ][+, but nearly everything I did was a day late and a dollar short of an early introduction into the marketplace. I have a great developer platform made in the image of an original Apple ][+ that is completely stuffed with gold-plated Augat sockets and a 65C02 processor. This is what I used for all my hardware development work.
Now, I'm looking to get back into some of those unfinished projects and bring the original Apple back on-line. Currently, I am interfacing a Lantronix Co-Box ethernet interface with an Apple Super Serial board to gain ethernet connectivity to any Apple ][. I am also interested in the possibility of making your CFFA work under DOS. (I know that will take some doing.) It's exciting to see others doing this as well. I hope to see more of this in the near future.

Hey bbrown,

I think it would be great if someone added DOS support for my hardware. I was one of those who kept using DOS after ProDOS came out, and ended up switching to PCs by the time ProDOS was in full swing.

Hi!

Applied Engineering had some code in the ROM for its RAMFactor card that allowed you to have as many as nine partitions on the RAM card. Depending on the actual amount of RAM on the card you could have one or two 140K or one or two 400K DOS 3.3 partitions. Anyone looking to implement DOS 3.3 for the CF card may want to take a look at the code in the ROM.

This is my first Apple II ever and I only got it hooked up yesterday so please excuse my lack of lore...

It's an Apple IIe Platinum ($20) the motherboard says copyright 1986.

I just picked up two older style disk ][ 5.25" floppy drives. ($5 each) and two, sealed boxes of floppies ($2 each).

I got all of this hardware at a place called 'Weird Stuff' in Sunnyvale, CA. (near where I work).

I have the Apple connected to a 20" Sun monitor via an external TV tuner. One of the floppy drives came with a copy of MECC - Early Addition... so now I'm getting beaten by that darn frog! I guess I'm bad at math. :smile:

I bought this because I always wanted an Apple computer... but was too poor at the time to get one. I consider this 'project' a way to learn about 'elegant hardware' and my own local history.

Rich: I think it's really cool that you made a CF adaptor card for this thing... because I have no idea how I'd ever find a SCSI card for one. Too bad you just sold out of them. Please make more. I've got my own CF disk... I just need your adaptor card.

Now if I could just figure out how to copy files from my floppyless Dual G4 PowerMac to a 5.25" floppy.... :wink:

How much of the Ramfactor code have you disassembled? I have a Ramfactor card Rev RF1.1 (1986) and have disassembled a good part of the code. I pretty much ignored the DOS 3.3 part though because I was more interested in the ProDOS part.

I apparently have a 1.4 ROM. Haven't disassembled it at all.

I've now disassembled both halves of the 4K ROM on my RAMFactor card, version 1.4. I also disassembled the program that installs DOS3.3 in a RAMFactor partition.
